Ahhh, finally...my favorite day! The 26th running of the Arlington Million! It looks like a beautiful day on the track.

Another hot summer day meant only one thing this time of year...Nascar!

We got to see Clint Bowyer and Matt Kenseth. Curt even asked Clint a good question!

Then we got to hit the pits and the garage for a special tour! That's Katie in Tony Stewart's pit box!

Near the garage area, Curt kept pointing people out. He even got the Speed Channel girl's autograph! Like a kid in a candy store! If only he had worn his Speed Channel hat:)

We spent the next day hiking around Maroon Bells. Words don't do it justice...enjoy.

It was busy around Aspen, they were setting up for the Food and Wine show, just as we were leaving.

After sipping great beer, great coffee, and remembering the good days of Ft. Collins, it was time to move on. Better things awaited us in the Rockies! First stop on our way up...Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park.

Unfortunately, due to the heavy snowfall they had all winter, we couldn't make it up through the pass, so we head to head back through the foothills, past the old Argo Mine...

...up to Independence Pass!

And it was way up!

We needed a quick breather after that one!

Finally in Aspen, we ate a fabulous meal, put on our slippers, and hit the hay.

Ain't life grand?

One Year Later - Ft. Collins

A year can pass incredibly fast, and we were very excited to head back to Colorado for our one year anniversary. We wanted to revisit the mountains and enjoy ourselves without all the excitement surrounding our wedding. It was all we could have asked for and more (with a bear or two thrown in for good measure!).

First, we headed to Ft. Collins, home of Colorado State University! As a CSU alumni, I was very happy and proud to show Katie around. Our first stop was the Union.

As I was showing Katie around the campus, there was road racing going on in the oval!

Then we sat down at Coopersmiths in Old Town for a beer, some food, and live music.

Although it was too late for the tour, we made one last stop...

June Trip to Florida

A trip to Florida couldn't have come at a better time. We had been suffering through a long, long winter in Illinois. So we took off for St. Pete's for Matt's best friend's wedding...

and then a quick siesta in...well...Siesta Key!

It's pretty relaxing...

And we think the Sriver's enjoyed themselves

But most of all, here, the sunsets never get old...

Making up For Lost Time

It's been awhile since there's been any posts. My wife was a very diligent blogger when our blog was first born, but now...well after putting many hours in for the first few posts, she's since abandoned it altogether. So until she delves back into the world of blogging, I will take her place at the helm...and I'll also try to catch up as quick as I can...hang on!

Key West... Our Honeymoon

Here's a little back story... Greg and I went down to Key West in August of 2006. We planned on hanging out, enjoying some local flare and doing some sight seeing. Well, Greg had other plans. He was going to propose! All was going according to his master plan when we both realized a hurricane was headed directly for Key West. We headed back to our hotel where the concierge kindly asked us to evacuate. This didn't look good for Greg, but he threw caution to the wind and in the midst of packing up our things, got down on one knee and popped the question! It wasn't the romantic, sunset, beach proposal he was hoping for, but it was absolutely perfect in my eyes! After we wiped the joyful tears away and re-gained our composure, we packed up the car and made the 6 hour drive up the coast to Siesta Key, our sanctuary.

Needless to say, it seemed only fitting to head back to Key West for our honeymoon and pick up where we had left off.

We stayed at the Sunset Key Resort. It is located off the coast of Key West and the only way of arriving there is by boat. Here is the dock we pulled into.

A six toed cat from Ernest Hemingway's house/museum. It's been said the cats that roam the grounds today are the descendants from the original six toed cat brought to the house by Ernest himself.

Here we are getting ready for the big day!

It was such an honor to have all of our loved ones there to share in the most important day of our lives. We thank you all so very much.

Greg and I decided to see eachother before the ceremony... I am so happy we did. He really calmed me down and, of course, made me laugh.
